“I’ll Reach Out When We’re Ready.†Why That Line Keeps People Stuck

How many times have you told a Realtor, “I’ll reach out when we’re ready”?

Most of the time, it’s not a lie. It’s a polite way to create space—usually because you don’t want to be sold to, pressured, or followed relentlessly. I get it. The average traditional salesperson can be exhausting, and most consumers have learned that engaging too early often means losing control of the conversation.

In my experience as a real estate broker in Colorado, that phrase almost always leads to the same outcome: procrastination and poor follow-up on both sides. The consumer delays because they don’t feel safe asking questions. The agent moves on because there’s no immediate transaction. Nothing progresses—except uncertainty.

The problem isn’t readiness. It’s the model.

Most real estate professionals are still operating transaction-first. If you’re not actively buying or selling, you’re deprioritized. That approach treats people like pipeline entries instead of humans navigating one of the biggest financial decisions of their lives.

My approach is different—intentionally so.

I practice real estate in a way that is relational, not transactional. I meet people where they are, not where I need them to be to justify my time. Whether someone is years away from buying, actively renting, rebuilding credit, or simply trying to understand their options, they still deserve an advocate.

Purchasing power fluctuates. Life happens. But the need for clarity, protection, and honest guidance doesn’t disappear just because someone isn’t “ready.”

As a contracted fiduciary, my role isn’t to push people toward a deal—it’s to help them make their next best move. That might be buying. It might be waiting. It might be restructuring finances or avoiding a bad decision altogether. Advocacy doesn’t start at the contract; it starts with trust.

If you’ve ever felt hesitant to reach out to a Realtor because you didn’t want to be sold to, you’re not wrong. But the right professional won’t rush you. They’ll walk alongside you, answer questions without obligation, and help you move forward on your timeline.

That’s the kind of real estate practice I believe in—and the kind every consumer deserves.
